An
Eland skeleton found in the Merrueshi plains
The
local people believed that the Eland died from drought, as the skeleton
is not disturbed. The bones would have been scattered around, if
the animal were attacked by a hyena or by a lion. The Maasai people witnessed
hundreds of animals that perish every year as a result of water shortage
at crowded waterholes in the Merrueshi plains.
